Professor H.A.M. Nazmul Ahasan

Professor HAM Nazmul Ahasan was born in April of 1956 at Dhaka. He got his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College in 1982 and completed his FCPS on Internal Medicine from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1988. He got the fellowship -FRCP form Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK in 2001, FACP- from American College of Physician in 2003, FRCP- form Royal College of Edinburgh, UK in 2005 and FCCP- from American College of Chest Physicians in 2008. He has a very good track record in his profession. At the beginning of his career, he was the Assistant Registrar and Registrar of Dhaka Medical College for 2.5 years, Resident Physician of Rajshahi Medical College for 6 months, Consultant of Khulna General Hospital for 3 years, Assistant Professor in Rajshahi and Khulna Medical College for more than 7 years, Associate Professor of Khulna Medical College for about 5 years. He became the professor of Khulna Medical College for 2 years and Professor of Dhaka Medical College for about 6.5 years. As a Head of the Department of Medicine of Dhaka Medical College is more than 4.5 yrs. As a teacher, he is well reputed with a long years of teaching experience. He is teaching as a Professor of Medicine for more than 12 years, Associate Professor of Medicine for 5 years, Assistant Professor of Medicine for 7 years and Consultant of Medicine for 3 years. His teaching experience includes lectures, clinical demonstrations and tutorials for undergraduate students and postgraduate fellows. As a Scientific Secretary of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons he organized enormous seminars, symposium, clinical meetings etc. He is the examiner of final professional MBBS examinations of different Medical Colleges under Rajshahi University. He is also the examiner of MD of different disciplines under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and Dhaka University. Besides this, he is the examiner of FCPS from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has more than 175 papers those are published in different International and National Journals. He presented more than 27 scientific papers in different international and national scientific medical conferences, and delivered about 40 lectures in CME organized by different professional bodies and organizations. He participated in at least 12 workshops on Medical Education and other medical topics. He also presented a paper at the international conference of APLAR in 1999 in Beijing, China. Besides, he participated at the international conference of ILAR in 2001 at Edmonton, Canada and international conference on Cardiovascular Continuum in 2002 at Bangkok, Thailand. In 2009, he participated at the International Symposium on Antimicrobial Agents and Resistance at Bangkok, Thailand. In the same year, he attended in the international scientific conference of the European Association of Internal Medicine held at Istanbul, Turkey. Last year, i.e. in April of 2013 he participated at the international scientific conference of American College of Physician (ACP). Besides his global presence, he edited three books, and he is the Editor in Chief, Journal of Bangladesh College of Physician and Surgeons.
